Why Regular Duct Cleaning Is Essential for Every Home or Office
Cleaning your home can be done in a variety of ways, from simple dusting and vacuuming to more complex tasks such as HVAC and duct cleaning. Your home cannot be 100% germ-free by picking one cleaning method. To provide a healthy environment, you need to combine many cleaning actions. The air quality that passes through ductwork and HVAC systems is one of the essential aspects of a clean home. Sem’s Duct Cleaning helped me better understand how duct cleaning works when I wanted to learn more about it.

Why Duct Cleaning?
There are several factors to consider when you think about vent and duct cleaning, including the decrease in indoor air quality. This is partly because high-efficiency windows, doors, and improved insulation reduce air transfer inside and out of homes. The fixtures are great for reducing energy costs and making a room more comfortable. Still, they are not often complemented with ventilation, causing pollutants to enter the home instead of being expelled through drafty windows.
Check-up
It is essential to inspect your ducts visually to determine how much dust there is and if cleanup is required. This is the first step to cleaning your ducts. In addition, you should decide how often you need to hire professionals to clean up dust and debris between cleanings.
Despite these limitations, a simple eye scan does not suffice. Professional cleaners have cameras to thoroughly inspect the vents and determine how much buildup has been created. During the inspection, they can also check for leaks and broken ducts and suggest immediate replacement or repair. Keeping your home clean and spotting any breaks early will save you a lot of money in the long run.
How the Cleaning Works
The duct cleaning process involves using large vacuums to remove dust from vents. These vacuums are mounted on trucks, so they are portable. The cleaning process itself is pretty straightforward. All dust and debris are directed directly into the machine by a hose attached to the duct and sealed properly. The hose should be attached near the air handler, which regulates air circulation. If you leave air registers uncovered, your vacuum will not be able to reach its full potential, no matter how powerful it is. To prevent air from going sideways, cover them with an adhesive cover. Lastly, the machine is turned on, creating negative pressure that detaches all particles from the duct surface and allows them to enter.
Using the Right Tools
Depending on the contractor, results differ. Vacuuming once and spraying cleaning chemicals inside ductwork will not solve the problem. To differentiate good contractors from mediocre ones, it is imperative to uncover each register after vacuuming the central duct and clean it separately after the negative pressure has been created. A rotating brush, a vacuum cleaner, a compressed air mechanism, and rotating brushes collect dust and debris from the ducts. The process takes approximately four to six hours.
Choosing a Good Contractor
It is imperative to find a contractor who will take the time to make sure your ductwork is dust-free at home and at work. Paying for a semi-finished job is more expensive than paying for a finished job. By using quality tools, the contractor should not damage your carpet, furnishings, or any other part of your home and should clean the whole system, inspect it before cleaning, and use HEPA vacuum equipment. To compare the existing ductwork with the new ductwork, you should ask the contractors to provide you with photos after the job is complete.
